Any ideas? When you load a raster image into Publisher, it sees the entire rectangular space as the image object. Applying wrapped text to it will cause it to wrap around the entire image, including the transparent portions. To get around this, you would need to convert the image to curves or trace the edge of the elements you wish to apply text to with a vector line.
In a pinch, a possible workaround would be to overlay an oval over the face you are trying to apply text to, deforming it until it is a fairly close match, and apply apply the text wrap to that oval shape.
